At INLIBRIUM, Dr. Burton Tabaac works directly with clients and the wider care team, bringing specialist neurological judgment to questions involving brain health, neuroplasticity, neurological history, recovery, and risk. He helps clients understand which questions may be relevant to their individual case, what the available evidence can support, and where responsible uncertainty must remain.
Burton is a board-certified neurologist and Johns Hopkins fellowship-trained vascular neurologist. He serves as Section Chief of Neurology and Medical Director of a Primary Stroke Center at Carson Tahoe Health, as well as Clinical Associate Professor of Neurology and Clinical Site Director at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine. His clinical and academic work spans stroke, brain injury, migraine, neurodegenerative disease, medical education, and neurological recovery.
His involvement in psychedelic medicine is equally substantive. Burton has published on informed consent, clinician education, ketamine, iboga, and the major psychedelic compounds being studied in contemporary care. He is an investigator with the PHATHOM Project, which examines psychedelics used alongside physical therapy in chronic stroke recovery, and has contributed to psychedelic policy, professional education, and scientific advisory work.
What distinguishes Burton is his ability to hold curiosity and restraint at the same time. He does not reduce a person to a scan, diagnosis, or research finding, nor does he dismiss a possibility simply because the evidence is still developing. He helps clients and the team understand what matters, what remains unknown, and how that uncertainty should shape consent and decision-making.
Throughout INLIBRIUM’s six-month program, Burton contributes directly to client conversations and coordinated case understanding. He makes complex neuroscience useful without making it absolute—helping ensure that possibility, evidence, risk, and individual context remain in honest proportion.
